| Treatments for Leg Veins FAQS
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy involves a series of minute injections of a sclerosing chemical which collapses the vein and gradually causes it to dissolve and fade. Very fine scattered veins do not respond well and it may not be possible to eradicate every vein, even those with a good response to treatment. Previously treated veins can recur or new veins appear and further treatment may be needed.
What are Spider Veins?
Spider veins, or 'starbursts,' are so named because the series of veins often radiates out from a central point, reminiscent of the shape of a spider. They may also appear as fine, separate lines, a web-like maze or as 'branches' from a single 'tree trunk'. They can develop on any part of the body, including the face but most often appear on the thighs, calves and ankles.
Do you use IPL/Laser?
Yes, if it is necessary.
Intense Pulse Light is used
to treat red and large blue deep veins. A recent non-invasive technology breakthrough
in the treatment of a variety of facial skin conditions. It offers safe subtle changes to the skin and can be tailored to one's individual
condition providing excellent cosmetic results.
How does the laser work?
The laser light travels through the skin and is absorbed by the blood within
the vein. The resulting heat coagulates or clots the blood and safely destroys the function
of the vein. It is a very successful treatment, used to treat small to medium-sized veins, blue veins, telangiectasia and venous flares
What are the benefits?
The process does not effect any surrounding tissue. Over time the vein will be
absorbed by the blood and will disappear from sight.
