Lipolysis - Lipodissolve
Reduction of Fat Deposits by Injection Therapy
Information about Injection Lipolysis/LIpodissolve Injections
(“Fat-Away Injections“)
Simply melting superfluous fat away by means of an injection – a fascinating
idea turned into reality by Dr. Rittes, a South-American dermatologist. In 1995,
she developed a procedure during which the substance phosphatidylcholine (PPT)
is directly injected into undesired fat deposits. The active substance is a natural
compound produced from the soya bean. The body uses the same substance in a number
of chemical pathways, particularly in the field of fat metabolism.
Dr. Hasengschwandtner of Austria developed this therapy
further. He has now carried out some thousands of treatments and must be one
of the most experienced therapists in this field in Europe. Thanks to his further
development work, more rapid and effective treatment results have been produced
compared with a few years ago. For example, originally some 6 – 10 repeated
treatments were necessary, which is much more than those required today.
Lipodissolve injections should not be regarded as a new miracle drug for weight
reduction. However in the case of fat deposits which cannot be removed by diet
or exercise then lipodissolve injections are effective. They do this by helping
the natural metabolic process during which fat is melted away and then eliminated
from the body. The medication is directly injected into the area concerned. Areas
suitable for treatment are:
Face
tear sacs
double chin
cheeks
Body
buttocks / upper leg adiposity
inner thigh
lower buttocks / transition to thigh
love handles (particularly in men)
hips
upper and lower belly
fat bulges at shoulder-arm-joints
upper arm
knees
dorsal areas
Treatment of cellulitis
thighs
Lipoma
(fatty lumps)
The number of treatments differs from person to person, depending upon body region
and body size. Due to the differing structure of the connective tissue and fat
cells, it has been found that men do not respond to the therapy as well as women.
As
a rule, 2 – 4 treatments in intervals of 6 –8 weeks are necessary
to successfully complete the treatment. We have found that more than 80% of the
patients are very satisfied with the results after 2 – 3 treatments.
The medication used for lipodissolve injections is a natural chemical which acts
in the body to protect the liver, and has also been used by doctors for many
years to prevent fat embolism in the blood. At this time, however, it has not
yet been approved for lipodissolve injections by the relevant authorities in
Germany.
For this reason, any patient proposing to have this treatment
will need to provide a range of medical information prior to the start of the
therapy, and the treatment will be monitored with particular care. The experienced
physicians affiliated with NETWORK-Lipolysis are particularly well placed through
their specialist training to advise you thoroughly about this treatment.
Although a
relatively new treatment, many thousands of treatment courses all over the world
have now been completed, and no serious side-effects have been observed up to
now. Nevertheless, it is considered essential that the therapy should only be
carried out by medical experts trained in this field. In order to obtain successful
results knowledge of the anatomical distribution of fat deposits in the body,
the correct injection technique and the right dosage for the treatment are of
the utmost importance, and doctors affiliated to NETWORK-Lipolysis all have been
trained in these areas.
Although lipodissolve injections have not yet been officially approved as a therapy,
this should be regarded as a general risk, in common with many other treatments
that are given without official approval. In aesthetic medicine, for instance,
a particular popular treatment for millions of patients has been given without
official approval over many years. This is of course, Botulinus toxin injections
(muscle relaxant) which is used world wide in aesthetic medicine. The substance was used
for other medical applications and has not yet been approved by the authorities
for the aesthetics.
Although there have been delays in the manufacturers achieving
full approval for these treatments for cosmetic indications, they have been widely
used without significant problems. In the case of Lipostabil health risks have
not been observed by either Dr. Rittes nor by Dr. Hasengschwandtner. The active
substance itself and its elimination from the body via metabolism have been fully
investigated and documented, and have revealed no serious problems.
It should
be noted that almost every patient shows some temporary side-effects after treatment
including reddening, swellings and muscular aching and – in
some cases – haematoma (bruising). After a few days, however, any discomfort
at the treated region will have disappeared. Detailed information about the local
and and general side-effects and risks of the treatment are readily available
from any physician belonging to our NETWORK.
NETWORK-Lipolysis is a frontier-crossing association of physicians who specialise
in different fields but who all have been certified for lipodissolve injections.
Dr. Hasengschwandtner trains all the members of our NETWORK both in theory and
practice and this supports the provision of consistent treatment of a high standard
by all NETWORK members. In addition the members, ranging from general practitioners
to specialists in plastic surgery, all contribute to lipodissolve research by
exchanging their specific knowledge and experience.
When you undergo a treatment
with a physician certified by our NETWORK clinical details and treatment efficacy
will be reported, strictly anonymously to the NETWORK-Lipolysis data bank. This
enables all physicians of the NETWORK to take part in a frontier-crossing follow-up
study about individual responses and tolerances. Several detailed studies about
lipodissolve injections are in preparation by physicians of the NETWORK.
At this time we have found that there is a non-responder
rate of about 5%, (i.e. the therapy does not show any effect in about one in
twenty patients). The reasons for this are unknown. You can be absolutely sure
that your physician will always be informed about the latest state of development
of lipodissolve injections. Further information is available from your own doctor
or can be found on www.network-lipodissolve.com
